Welcome to the Leatix Wiki[]

Hi there! My name is Nick Carey and this is a project I'm working on: Leatix. This project finds its roots in the world my brother and I created when we were kids whenever we got a new Lego. Overtime, we constructed an elaborate 'fake world' that included a range of countries, lands, and histories. When I was 13, I started writing down everything we did and haven't stopped since. The goal of this Wiki is to catalogue Leatix and its history. Leatix seeks to be as accurate as possible, so I don't intend stopping anytime soon!

About Leatix[]

Leatix is a planet orbiting the star Luxais, which is an actual star called HD 101065. Luxais is a young yellow star with three-quarters the mass of the Sun. Leatix is the fourth planet from Luxais with an orbital distance of 1.71 AU. There are six planets in the Leatixan Solar System:

  • Galiso
  • Truso
  • Mallus
  • Aram
  • Decidis

Leatix does have a moon, named Fol and is approximately 1/8 the mass of Leatix. Leatix itself has a mass of 1.75e25 kg, placing it just over double the mass of Earth. Leatix is a nickel iron planet just like Earth and has a gravitational coefficient of 5.73639 m/s^2. Leatix has three continents (Lancasteria, Fundimentia, Crodilia, four Oceans (Allay, Merlay, Vikian, and Crodilian), and 14 seas. Leatix formed approximately 3.16 billion years ago and life first appeared around 2.21 billion years ago. In about 1.86 billion years ago, the first vertebrates, such as Cenozoids, began to emerge in the ocean. There have been several large scale extinction events in Leatix's history, with the largest one being the Epasnu Extinction Event when a comet collided with the planet.

Today, Leatixans experience a relatively temperate climate akin to Earth. The average global temperature on Leatix is 64.2 Farenheit. Its atmosphere is mostly nitrogren (63%), followed by oxygen (17%).

Inhabitants of Leatix are called Leatixans. They emerged from the Femtate genus around -1,106,000 and would eventually evolve to create civilizations around -17,000.

Historical Eras[]

Leatixan history is categorized into Six Eras that span nearly 19,000 Sets, or 1900 Ansets. Classically, the Eras are divided into Periods, generally spanning less than 1,000 Sets. The Era System was first proposed by Centraelic historians in the +1700s as a way to classify pre-Emperael history. The system was included into the Pydonian Standard Time (PST), which is the internationally recognized time standardization.

Prehistory (> -17,200)[]

Leatixan prehistory is any period of time before -17,200. Evidence of the first descendents of modern Leatixans appears around 135,000 Sets ago in the modern day Aelic Plains in Crodilia. They were likely nomadic, following large herds of megafauna as they travelled across the abundant savannah. Leatixans would go on to expand across much of Crodilia and even into Ventilia, which until 36,000 Sets ago was connected to mainland Crodilia via a landbridge. During the end of the last ice age (~20,000 sets ago), Leatix began to warm causing the Aelic Plains to desertify, forcing thousands to settle in more hospitable regions. It was during this period that the first agricultural communities began to form. The first of these settlements were likely in the western sections of Aelic valley, which provided protection from roaming nomadic tribes and incredibly fertile river beds fed by the Aelic River.

First Era (-17,200 to -15,600)[]

The First Era is characterized by the formation of the first Leatixan societies, often referred to as the First Societies. The First Era is notable for two massive innovations that occured during this two Doset period if time. First was the First Agricultural Revolution, where most Leatixans began to settle and raise crops and domesticate livestock. While evidence suggests Leatixans had domesticated smaller animals before this, the First Era would be the first time Leatixans would farm entire populations of animals. The second major innovation was the smelting of metals, mainly lead and copper. This made the tools of the First Era far more capable, specifically for sowing and producing crops. The sudden explosion of agriculture in the -17,000s dramatically increased the Leatixan population, with the first large settlements being established in the late -17,000s near modern day United City (Cel).

Another important development of the First Era was the invention of written language, as evident by archeological digs around the eastern Aelic Valley. By -16,000 it is estimated there were nearly 600,000 Leatixans living across the Aelic Valley with the largest settlement being the city of Cel. Controlled by the Dassidic Peoples, we have a limited understanding of their history. The First Era would end with a series of invasions led by Ataceans, or Aelic nomads, sometime in the -15,600s.

Second Era (-15,559 to -13,400)[]

The invasion of the Ataceans forced many developed Leatixans south, eventually settling along the Pontain Gulf and forming the city of Croda. The city of Croda would grow into the Crodersian Kingdom, which would control much of the Pontain coast and the Celian Riverways. It would also push into Trans-Xikia and the western hinterlands of Likia. The Crodersians are one of the earliest Leatixan civilizations and would retain control over their territory for much of the Second Era. Additionally, civilizations across Torea, Roan, and Ventilia would also begin to emerge. This was also the time when the Tempetei River Civilization would emerge in modern day Vikia.

The late Second Era would see a proliferation of trade. By -14,000, the Crodersians were proficient mariners and capable of traversing across the relatively calm waters of the Likian Sea. This would connect the metal rich cities of Torea and Ventilia with trade hubs like Cel and Croda. Unfortunately, in sometime around -13,400 the Hesel supervolcano erupted, triggering a devastating tsunami and ash cloud across the Likia Sea. Known as the Hesel Event, it killed approximately 60% of Leatixans in Likia, Torea, and Roan. Its devastation would also lead to the Near Extinction Period, which was a span of nearly 500 years of famine and societal collapse across most of the region. Little in terms of knowledge, history, and culture from the First and Second Era Civilizations survived this period, leaving modern historians with a mostly incomplete understanding of Leatixan history before the Third Era.

Third Era (-13,400 to -10,100)[]

The Third Era was a nearly three millennia long dark period after the Hesel Event. Immediately following the disaster, much of Torea, Likia, and Roan saw widespread famine and social collapse. There are virtually no archeological records between -13,400 and -13,000 in southern Crodilia. In fact, much of what we know about this period of history comes from Olarian texts and Fourth Era historians. The volcanic activity caused widespread climate change, also likely triggering massive famines and crop failures across all of Crodilia. It is estimated nearly 65% of the pre-Hesel Event population was killed off over the next few hundred years.

Sometime around -12,900 the archeological record indicates the resettlement of the Aelic valley, likely by Psanic or proto-Centraelic tribal people. The city of Cel, which was likely abandoned, experienced a rebirth and by -12,800 once massive cities like Onlais and Croda had become resettled. Nevertheless, archeologists argue that these cities would not see pre-Hesel Event populations until the beginning of the Fourth Era. We know very little about these civilizations. We do know that they were likely Psanic influenced and that maritime trade had virtually completely stopped. We also know that the previous technical innovations of the Second Era were all but lost. Remains of metalwork from the mid-Third Era resembles early Second Era quality, suggesting that the much of the metallurigcal knowledge of the Second Era was lost. To the west, once large cities like Orea and Tor were left abandoned. The coastline had changed significantly, with many settlements now underwater or eroded. In Ventilia, the Olarians had survived the initial disruption of the Heselese Event, but records indicate nearly 25 years of famine, resulting in the fragementation of the late Ventil Empire. The collapse of the Ventils would lead to the proliferation of Likian-esque city states across the Asilic and Hilae valleys.

In Vikia, the region continued to slide into decline. The Tempetei, once the strongest political power in the region, collapsed sometime around -12,600. Unfortunately, historians have almost no historical record of the region until the mid-8,000s with the rise of the Urutei Dynasty. We do know there was a series of migrations west down the Tempetei river, where proto-Denai peoples settled its banks within the Rena forests. This was likely to escape a rise in Aelic raids in the region.

Towards the end of the -10,000s, much of the population losses across the continent had been recovered. Vibrant civilizations, such as the Alsis Kingdom, which controlled much of the eastern Aelic Valley, or the Yalel Empire in southern Likia started to flourish. Trade between the ancient regions had begun to resume and technological innovation was slowly returning, especially in Likia. However, this brief period of recovery would be upended by the largest Aelic tribal raid in recorded history. To the west, Atacean warlord Huttas Mor had unified the Aelic tribes and launched a massive army into the Aelic Valley. His invasion would decimate both the Aelic Valley southern Crodilia and usher in the Moraelian age.

Fourth Era (-10,100 to -4,900)[]

Sometime around -10,100, Huttas Mor and his Aelic horde sacked and slaughtered the inhabitants of Cel. After this, he went south and conquered much of Likia, Roan, and Torea, establishing the short-lived Moric Empire (-10,100 to -9,950). The Empire was the largest state established to date and would introduce an Aelic influence into southern Crodilia. It would also cause hundreds of thousands of people to flee north and east, helping eventually link Likia and Vikia. After Mor's death in -10,075, he would divide his empire up amongst his sons. The fragmented empire would continue to exist until -9,950 when all of the Moric states essentially collapsed due to their size. The brief existence of the Moric Empire though would pave the way for the Fourth Era.

The Fourth Era is defined, broadly, by five Periods:

Fifth Era (-4,900 to +999)[]

Conventions (Time, Length, Etc.)[]

Time[]

Modern Leatixans employ the base-10 Pydonian Standard Time (PST) to keep time and calendar. One revolution around the Luxais is called a Set. Each Set is then subdivided into 10 Juts. These are further subdivided into 100 Jules, and so on. Below is a conversion table.

Earth Time

Convention

Pydonian Standard Time

Convention

Approximate Conversion
Year Set 1:0.6 Years
Month Jut 1:1.38 Months
Week N/A
Day Jule 1:2.41 Days
Hour Juleseti
Minute

Juts are approximately measured as the rotation of Fol. There are 1000 Jules in one Set. They begin at the winter solstice (Luna). The names are listed as the following:

Jut Season
Luna Winter
Alderset Winter
Yule Spring
Rosen Spring
Qualton Summer
Timerset Summer
Kevset Summer
Wedset Autumn
Nortset Autumn
Wena Winter

There are 10 Sets in one Seset, analogous to a decade. Similarly, there are 100 Sets in an Anset and 1000 Sets in a Doset. The PST Calendar starts with the crowning of Emperor Saranaplus in the Set +000. Years prior are denoted with a - and countdown towards Set 000. Alternatively, Sets can be denoted as a Poset (-) or Peset (+). (Example: the Seferanic Empire formed in Poset 3,206). The initial year (000) is a holdover from the previous Emperial Standard Calendar system. The current year is +2520.

Distance[]

Leatixans use a base-10 decimal system for measurement called the Aerter System. It was created by the Emperial scientists and philosopher Malton Aerter. The standard unit of measurement is the Aerter, denoted by A. Every country on the globe uses the Aerter System with the exception of HLS and Regale. The HLS use the Castis Measurement System, devised in the +1700s. The Regalese use the Li System, derived in +800. Below is a conversion table between Aerter and Metric.

Metric System (m) Aerter (A) Castis System (Cs) Li System (d)
1Km 2500A 521Cs 436d

Modern Countries[]

There are currently 46 nations on Leatix. Most notably are the Holish Lancaster States (HLS), the Crodilian Union, and the Lancaster States (LS). The total population of Leatix is 6.726 billion (+2511), although it peaked at a population of 12.61 billion in +2280. The most commonly spoke language on Leatix is Casti, followed by Centraelic, Westin, and Fundimentian. The most popular religion is Holiism.
